Dr. Lal, an elected fellow of National Academy of Agricultural sciences and Indian Association of Hydrologist in India, is currently chairman of Climate, Energy and Sustainable Development Analysis Centre (a non-profit making non-governmental organization) which provides consultancy services to Industrial Houses, Multinational Groups, Governmental and Non-Governmental Organizations as well as UN agencies on all matters relating to sector specific impacts of regional and local climate variability and climate change, integrated systems analysis of population and urbanization linkages, energy efficiency and sustainable use of natural resources for the socio-economic development in the developing countries of Asia and the Pacific.
